All Things Bride and Beautiful - Civil Ceremony
In the lead up to our marriage, I had never considered the legal part of our wedding day to be of much importance. So much so that I had actually forgotten to order a registrar until 8 weeks before the big day! To me, the most important part was us confirming our love for each other and our commitment to our relationship in front of friends and family.

The hand-fasting in my mind had more significance as it was an ancient ceremony. It pre-dates organised religion and tax relief; it's about love and commitment and the significance of all the things that go along with it. To me the civil bit was just a formality.

However, on the big day I felt VERY different. As soon as I got into the wedding car with my dad i had this sudden realisation (and I know that sounds daft) that THIS IS IT! I'M GETTING BLOODY MARRIED! And, embarrassingly, started to hyperventilate a little bit. So instead of spending the journey to Rook Lane in Frome talking with dad and getting nuggets of wisdom, he was counting my breaths and getting me to calm the f**k down!

The civil service was so beautiful. We had readings from friends which made everyone laugh and the deconsecrated chapel looked absolutely gorgeous. Decorated in meters and meters of handmade bunting (made by my own fair hands of course!), chair covers and ribbons by Wedding and Events Prop Hire in Frome and self designed order of ceremony printed in a vintage style and wrapped with hemp twine.

We had dried rose petal confetti made by my mother in law from roses in her garden which i decanted into cones and we had photos taken to the rear of Rook Lane.

We were incredibly blessed with the weather for the end of September and it was a balmy 60 degrees with sunny spells all day.
